DHEA has the ability to inhibit viral activity by disabling its DNA synthesis in human cells. DHEA’s ability to enhance the immune system is involved in this effect. The ability of DHEA to boost energy and stamina has also been documented.

A Hungarian experiment found that women suffering from Osteoporosis had more trouble with calcium absorption. After receiving DHEA therapy, calcium was properly assimilated and metabolised.

It is also believed that DHEA protects brain cells from Alzheimer’s disease and other senility-associated degenerative conditions. Recent evidence also suggests that DHEA may be valuable as therapeutic treatment for age related dementia. DHEA enhances memory retention and may improve cognitive function.

Dr. Samuel S.C. Yen of the UCSD School of Medicine has stated, “DHEA replacement in well-controlled human trials suggest that DHEA replacement has both psychological and physiological benefits for the ageing population.”

DHEA can increase serum estrogen levels in women and eliminate the need for estrogen replacement therapy in some women.

DHEA is not recommended for use by patients with existing breast or prostrate cancer.

Known substances that deplete DHEA in the body include:

• Coffee
• Nicotine
• Corticosteroid drugs
• Excess insulin
• Alcohol
• Synthetic hormones
• Some hypertensive drugs e.g. Ca B’ Bb.

Ask your doctor to determine your Testosterone, DHEA and melatonin (if you are experiencing disturbed sleep patterns) levels by blood or salim testing. These natural or bio-identical hormones can be compounded with other hormones like estrogens or progesterone for a complete hormonal balance in various dosage forms thus knowing a complete bio-identical natural hormone replacement individually for your body.
