Andropause

Andropause is a gradual decline in sex hormone levels over a period of years resulting in physiological & psychological changes.

Andropause presents itself with a variety of symptoms, including, depression, impotence, decreased libido, muscular weakness, lethargy, and loss of lean body mass.

It’s time to “Get your motor rolling...Get out onto the Highway...Get back that Feeling...that Desire to get into that red sports convertible you’ve always fancied, flex those muscles…...confident in the knowledge that the ladies are giving you ‘that glance’...it’s time to consider looking at your Hormone Levels.

Testosterone levels peak in the teen years, and can start declining as early as the age of 30. Testosterone in the body is broken down by
• aromatase enzyme to Estradiol , or
• 5-alpha-reductase to Dihydro-testosterone (DHT)

It is the conversion of
Testosterone to Estradiol
that is responsible for
“Estrogen Dominance” or
andropausal symptoms.

Reasons for Estrogen elevation include

• age related aromatase activity
• altered liver function
• zinc deficiency
• obesity
• ingestion of estrogen-enhancing

Testosterone has been shown to

  • increase bone mineral density (1)
  • protect against cardiovascular conditions
  • protect against diabetes. Insulin plays a role in regulating Testosterone secretion (2)
  • acts as a vasodilator & increases the feeling of well-being (3)
  • improves mood. Testosterone may improve depressed mood in older men who have low levels of testosterone (4)
