Dr.
David Zava's Profile
DAVID
ZAVA, Ph.D. is a Biochemist, Research Scientist and internationally
known speaker on the subject of hormone imbalances, natural hormone
replacement, saliva hormone testing and breast cancer. After receiving
his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Tennessee, Memphis,
in 1974, he pursued his interests in cancer research. Working in
the U.S. and Switzerland he focused on hormonal control of breast
cancer. Over the past 25 years, he has published extensively on
basic and clinical research relating to the effects of estrogens
(natural and plant estrogens and pollutant xenoestrogens) and progesterone
on breast cancer.
Dr. Zava developed saliva testing as a simple non-invasive means
to test hormones and as a means to evaluate hormonal risk factors
for breast cancer. Because steroid hormones play such a vital role
in maintenance of health, knowledge of an imbalance in any one or
more hormones can help to illuminate the cause of health problems
and provide a basis for correcting the imbalance through diet, exercise
or hormone supplementation.
He
is the Founder and Laboratory Director of ZRT Laboratory (CLIA certified)
located in Beaverton, Oregon, using saliva for testing hormonal
levels since 1998. His goal is to develop research projects with
physicians and academic groups to understand the role of steroid
hormones in health and disease, particularly breast cancer. ZRT
Laboratory currently has several ongoing research projects.
Dr.
Zava has co-authored 60 Scientific Publications and is co-author
with John Lee, M.D. of What Your Doctor
May Not Tell You About Breast Cancer: How Hormone Balance May Save
Your Life published in January 2002.
